Tamariki Education Centre is a ‘private’ Not-For-Profit primary school set up in a underprivileged region on the outskirts of Nairobi in Kenya.

The school was developed with a focus and emphasis on providing quality education for children and families in need.

About Us

In 2014 we established a private Not-For-Profit primary school on the outskirts of Nairobi in Kenya targeting “needy kids”. This means children from extremely poor backgrounds, orphans, and children with serious illness in the family such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and we also have children who themselves suffer these terrible diseases. The school roll currently stands at around 140 pupils, and at the start of each new year, Tony (our Director/Headmaster) brings in the next round of new entrants.

The school is a fully registered, officially recognised learning institution in Kenya and is set up as a “Community Based, Self-Help” project. This means the Director/Headmaster (Tony Ngotho) and the local community take ownership and responsibility. Each jurisdiction in Kenya has a Community Based Committee appointed by the government, to protect private projects in Kenya, such as our school, to ensure projects are set up and operating according to the law, are not simply money making schemes, and for the likes of schools and orphanages; that the children are not exploited for self-gain.

The school teaching methods and standards are set by the Kenyan Government and Tamariki Education Centre follows the KCPE (Kenya Certificate in Primary Education) national curriculum. It is very important therefore to ensure there is adequate teaching staff, teaching resources and facilities available to cater to the needs of the children.

Our children are all first educated in their families and their lives are extremely harsh. Therefore our school provides a ‘safe haven’; and the children know that as soon as they walk through the gate, they are safe, loved and nurtured. We are extremely lucky to have a very dedicated team of teachers whose primary focus is on the welfare of the children, and to provide all their needs where applicable.
